When thinking about the injustices in football, Harry Kane, who has not won a single title for his club or country, has to be at the top. An unexpected fate, especially considering that Kane was “guaranteed” a title after moving to Bayern Munich.
Well, despite an extremely fruitful first season as an individual thanks to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and an unusually poor season from Bayern, the English striker once again remained trophyless.
Now, after 16 games in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season and a four-point lead at the top of the table, Kane finally seems ready to win his first club trophy in his career. However, Leverkusen could once again prove to be a thorn in Bayern’s side after quietly rattling off seven Bundesliga wins in a row, putting them within striking distance of them The record champion.
In an interview after Bayern’s 1-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Kane responded to Leverkusen’s threat and called on his team to “be there in every moment” (as quoted by @iMiaSanMia).
“It’s a season in which we have to be there every moment. Leverkusen is in good form. I think they’ve won quite a few games in a row so we’ll just have to do the same. Whoever plays first obviously has the chance to put pressure on the other team and they did that to us, but we were able to react,” Kane said.
Four points ahead of the top is no guarantee of the Bundesliga title. In football, things can change at will, so there seems to be a game between Bayern and Leverkusen to see who gets the break first.
For Harry Kane’s sake, let’s hope it won’t be Bayern.
